Surgical Weight Loss

Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy

Gastric sleeve surgery is a bariatric procedure in which 80 to 85 percent of the stomach is removed in a vertical fashion, leaving behind a banana-like tube or “sleeve” that creates a restrictive process in which patients can not eat nearly as much as before. Because the intestines are not rerouted, absorption problems are uncommon and there are no food restrictions. In addition, the removal of this portion of the stomach also leads to a decreased concentration of ghrelin, the hunger stimulating hormone, which ultimately decreases one’s appetite.

Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass

Gastric bypass (or Roux-en-Y procedure) is a minimally invasive surgery through which we create a smaller stomach and bypass a portion of the small intestine. Gastric bypass patients can expect to lose nearly 80% of their excess weight. Of course every procedure is unique so this number will vary. Applying the principles of both restriction and malabsorption, the patient benefits from long term, durable weight loss.

Cost of Surgery

My self-pay price is one of the best in the country. This price does not just include the surgery, but all pre-op labs, Psychological evaluation, nutritional appointment, and six months of follow up in our office. There are no hidden fees and you do not get bills from other entities such as anesthesia or ancillary care.  We also help with travel arrangements for our “surgical tourism” patients as you visit the Treasure Coast of Florida for your surgery.
